Welcome to the hidden corner

Congratulations: you've reached a corner of this house that almost no one gets to see. We put it together the way you'd wrap a gift, with care and with love. Inside you'll find a few things we were really excited to share with you: Murcia as it looked over a century ago, the house's paintings just as they came off the brush, a beautiful poem a poet once wrote for this land, a test to see how Murcian you really are… and one more thing for whenever you feel like coming back. Get comfortable: this is best enjoyed slowly.

first gift

Murcia over a century ago

These are the very same streets you'll be strolling through these days, photographed and captured more than a hundred years ago. The Cathedral was already there, and so was the Old Bridge, and the huerta. The cars, the clothes and the pace of life have changed; the place itself, deep down, is still the same. Take your time looking, then go out and find them.

The paintings, in high definition

The paintings you've seen around the house are the work of our daughter Lourdes, inspired by corners of Murcia. Here are the originals in high definition, so you can see every brushstroke up close and take them home as a keepsake if you'd like.

third gift

De Murcia al cielo

José Zorrilla · 1888

A whole poem Zorrilla dedicated to Murcia: its landscapes, its people and its traditions, told with the warmth of someone who was very warmly welcomed here. We've given it its own little corner of the website, with a menu to move through its parts without getting lost.

fourth gift

How Murcian are you?

7 questions on slang, food and the history of the huerta, drawn at random from a well-stocked bag. At the end we'll tell you, with no mercy, just how Murcian you really are.

Thanks for playing

Thank you for visiting our house and for taking the trouble to explore it looking for hidden numbers. We hope this little game made you smile, and that you take home from Murcia something more than photos: a 19th-century poem, streets that no longer exist, and Lourdes's paintings.

It's been a joy having you at Casa TOVI. Come back whenever you like: the house, and we, will still be here.
